Eventuellement le bus arrive et la foule débarqua du bus plus un vingtaine d’autre. A l’époque, je ne connaissais pas le mot mais je le cherchais – péquenauds . Il y avait des centaines de jeunes entre douze et seize ans, traînent dans un parking; normal pour un collège, j’apprendrais plus tard. J’avais seulement vu un rassemblement comme celle-ci à Knock, notre Lourdes ou Tolsal na bhFiann, un énorme rassemblement des jeunes gaeligphones pour danser et draguer. Ici c’était tous les matins avant 8h.
Tous ces fourmis savaient ceux qu’ils font . Quand vous rentriez, il y avait une descente légère puis un tas de rochers moulés et coulés en béton, comme des pic des spirituels des taoïstes mais ici ce n’est pas une question d’esprit mais de RMI – un 1% comme on dit en culture pour le masse, well c’est un masse.
Présentement, je me demandes si je pourrais faire quelque chose de pareil? Pour les taoïstes, ces pic ont des sens, même si personne les donna leur forme. À Dublin, on a un statue de James Joyce fait pas quel con que mais la multitude firent mieux et maintenant il y a the Prick with the Stick – le Conard avec le Canne.

Finally the bus arrived and the crowd landed with twenty others or so. At the time I didn’t know the French word but I saw what a culchie gathering looked like. There were hundreds of youths between the ages of twelve and sixteen, hanging round a car park; standard sized collège, I’d learn later. I had only ever seen a gathering like this at Knock, Ireland’s answer to Lourdes or at Tostal na bhFiann, the gaeilgeoirí gathering for dancin’ and any excuse to hold a girls hand. Here it’s every morning before eight.
All the ants seem to know what they’re doing. As you went in there was a slight dip and a pile of rocks modelled and moulded in concrete, like the five Taoist peaks in China but here it wasn’t a question of soul but dole – a 1%er as we say culture for the masses, well this was a mass.
Now, I wonder if I am capable of something similar? For the Taoists these peaks have a sense even if no one ever gave them their form. In Dublin, we have a statue of Jimmy Joyce by whom ever but the multitude did better and now we have the Prick with a Stick.
